The rebellious warrior of Mirkwood
Tauriel is driven by a profound sense of duty that extends beyond the borders of her own forest. Unlike King Thranduil, she refuses to turn a blind eye to the suffering of mortals, believing that the Elves must take a stand against Sauron’s forces.
Evangeline Lilly brings incredible physical grace and emotional vulnerability to the character. Her deadly skill with a bow and twin daggers is matched only by her unexpected, tragic connection to the Dwarven archer, Kili.
Created specifically for the films, Tauriel adds a vital, active female presence to The Hobbit trilogy. She embodies the classic Tolkien theme of empathy and action overcoming ancient prejudice.
