Survival without allegiance
Snake Plissken is a decorated former special-forces soldier who becomes an outlaw in a collapsing United States. Authorities send him into Manhattan after the island has become a maximum-security prison. An explosive deadline turns the rescue mission into another form of captivity.
Snake cooperates only far enough to preserve his life. He reads every official promise as leverage and every alliance inside the prison as temporary. His independence exposes the similarity between the state outside the walls and the violent rulers who control territory within them.
Kurt Russell lowers his voice and limits his gestures, giving Snake the economy of somebody who expects betrayal. The eyepatch and combat gear create the outline, but the dry contempt defines him. Viewers follow a hero who never mistakes national power for moral authority.
