The dossier
From Arkham psychiatrist to Gotham wildcard
Harley Quinn began as psychiatrist Harleen Quinzel before obsession with the Joker reshaped her identity. The partnership made her his accomplice but never his equal. Later stories move Harley toward independence, unstable heroism and alliances chosen for herself.
Harley's unpredictability hides professional intelligence, trained observation and a clear understanding of other people's weaknesses. Leaving the Joker does not erase damage or violent habits. It gives her responsibility for choices once explained through his control.
Margot Robbie brings the character into live-action through sharp comic timing and restless physical movement. Her performance survives changing teams, directors and moral positions. That continuity helped establish Harley as a screen lead beyond Batman or the Joker.
