The dossier
A horror obsessive who learns to finish the assignment
Francis Gremp, known as Chainsaw, enters remedial English with an encyclopedic devotion to horror films. He and Dave treat class as another stage for effects and pranks. Their enthusiasm supplies the course with disruptive but genuine creative energy.
Chainsaw resists ordinary study until teacher Freddy Shoop gives the class reasons to invest. A staged classroom massacre shows his technical imagination and reckless sense of humour. Later effort turns that imagination toward passing the course.
Dean Cameron plays Chainsaw with total commitment to every strange idea. His partnership with Gary Riley gives the film a recognisable comedy duo within the ensemble. The character endures because his fandom becomes a skill, not merely a joke.
