A Slayer who refuses the approved path
Faith Lehane arrives in Sunnydale as a second active Slayer with a direct, physical approach to danger. She rejects Buffy's support whenever it resembles pity or control. Her confidence masks a childhood shaped by neglect and a deep expectation that every relationship will fail.
A fatal mistake pushes Faith toward denial, then into the Mayor's protection. He offers structure without asking her to become vulnerable, making their alliance emotionally credible despite its violence. Her later surrender begins a difficult redemption built on consequences rather than instant forgiveness.
Eliza Dushku makes Faith's swagger feel both dangerous and defensive. A joke can become a threat before the listener understands the change. Viewers return to her story because recovery requires sustained choices after the series has shown the damage she caused.
