A transactional marriage and the fight to keep agency
Anora Mikheeva, known as Ani, works at a Manhattan strip club and lives in Brighton Beach. Meeting Ivan brings money, attention and a sudden marriage in Las Vegas. She reads the opportunity quickly and chooses it on her own terms.
Ivan's family sends enforcers to undo the marriage, treating Ani as a problem rather than a person. She resists their money, threats and assumptions with practical force. The struggle reveals how little protection her new status actually provides.
Mikey Madison gives Ani speed, humour and anger that refuse passive victimhood. Her physical confidence drives the film through farce and exhaustion. The final quiet moments expose the cost of defending herself without reliable tenderness.
